Wood and Soda Fired Work
Some of the these pieces have been fired up to 3 times. Each firing is approximately 54 hours. In the last 3 years my work is becoming more hand built rather than wheel thrown. The handbags developed during my Artist Residency and The Central Institute of Technology in 2010. Parking is at a premium at Central so I carried clay and tools, which as time wore on became heavier and heavier. So my bag series appeared. I enjoy the spontaneity of making this work. There is more to come waiting to be fired but will have to wait till April, by that time Perth will have had some rain. The handbag featured, received an Honourable Mention in the 2011 Vasefinder International Exhibition. The juror was Robin Hopper.
